wooohoooo....my first commissioned piece.this was difficult as i was given the photograph and told 'how it turns out is entirely up to you'......that's the most nerve racking thing about taking commissions.....freedom!!!however i was flattered the the customer wanted purely my talents as an artist....none of her input what-so-ever.so that was nice. Anyway, the photograph was of her child's head, asleep on her hand....that was the only guidance she gave....so off i went, and i must say i'm chuffed with the result (the first time i've painted a person that isn't famous!) I titled the finished piece...'The comfort of a mothers touch' below is the original photo, and the canvas.....ALL feedback welcome...good or bad, it helps one to develop ones skills! :mrgreen:

That is really good! you have the features of the baby down perfect, and thats not easy to do with babies, cause they all kind of look like Phil Mitchell

It's amazing how you got the baby to actually look like the baby there... I can never get them.

thankyou all!!!believe me it was hard....still not quite as tricky as trying to capture matt in true form instead of making him look like a demented pixie!! but still, there was quite a bit of swearing in the early stages of this one.what do you all think to colour choice?? i didn't think warm colours worked, they were to harsh in reflecting the fragile beauty of the child....plus the baby is a boy!!!lol...but honestly? and to sylvie...it feels good to be back!!!lol....bloody work, you only have to say 'yes' once and they think you'll do everything!!!

to me the colours seem to compliment the skin tone, i think if you had used skin colours it would have lost some of its boldness, i dunno, i think it would have blended in a bit too well, and not stood out as it does, if that makes any sense hehe, i know NOTHING about art at all

nope, neither do i, i really dont know how to explain it, but to me it would be too "wishy washy"? there would be no definition! haha check me out, i sound like i know what im talking about, i really have no clue! I dont know about art, but i know what i like
