easy question really, if you had to give Muse CD to a non Muse fan what would it be and why?

I suppose the most obvious one to me is BHaR, not because its the most recent, but I think its their most (for want of a better expression) 'commercial' and most 'easily accessible' CD. Its the easiest CD to listen to, OOS would be my choice because its my favourite, but Citizen Erased and Space Dementia might be a bit much for the non fan! BHaR is a 'gentle' introduction to the world of Muse. I'd then give them Absolution, OOS and finally Showbiz.

It a really tough one. I personally wouldn't give them BH&R because I think its not a good representation of their music. I'd probably make a compilation of songs and then that person can choose what album they'd prefer to listen to first from it.

good answer! But at the moment I can only offer her an entire CD

I'm trying to get a friend to understand that Muse aren't, to use her word 'awful'. Matt's 'screeching' at the end of Plug In Baby put her off.

She needs educating

i would have to say a compilation too, thats how i got my friend into them! she didnt like matts "screechyness" much either, but i carefully chose songs in which he didnt scream too much and she ended up loving his voice and demanded more songs hehe! eventually she just went out and bought everything! i think once they are introduced to the non screechy matt, then they fall in love with that voice and they then take anything they can get their hands on

Hmm.. yeah the screechyness is a hard one to come by... I know several people who are like that... then yeah I would offer BH&R because he dosn't concentrate on his voice so much in these songs...

It's the marmite theory. I would have to say Absolution too, I think that that is actually the most accessible of all their albums and it has some harder and softer stuff on it. It was their first really popular album too. Also I don't think that the vocals on there are particularly screechy.

I'd go with Showbiz
it's the rawest album, you know
yeah I can understand you either love Matt's voice or hate it.. but there are songs on that album.. well if you really don't like them, no way you're gonna like later Muse

I would have to say Absolution too! I was a fan before this came out but no where near once Absolution was released. I'd want someone to get into them with older stuff, not because there is a new album out and played on the radio every day.
