Hopefully a life changing thing for the better of the rest of my life.

Yes folks, armed with a reference, personal statement (that was chopped and changed by 3 different people) and some personal details I have now applied for a degree in Computer Systems Engineering at Nottingham Trent University.

Just to explain my recent absense I've spent a fair bit of time away from things thinking about it (plus a few days being ill with the man-flu) sorting things out, reading into things, battling with UCAS which wasn't as bad as I had expected.

Next step, if I get accepted, is to sort out a student loan and accomodation.

I just need to wait and hear from them now.

I hate waiting for things like this.

My OH went to Trent Uni years ago and did Electronic Engineering, and he had a blast. Nottingham, as you're learning is a cool city, but please don't live in St Anne's.

Is St Anne's towards the north of the city? I know someone who lives in Basford and that's rough as a badgers arse!

If I get accepted I'll be at the Clifton campus, so will be living on the campus there hopefully.

best of luck to you...its horrible waiting for the application process to be over but time will soon start to fly by...doesnt seem that long ago I was going through that waiting game and now Im nearly at the end of my 3 years at uni (though am already considering further study...)

I made a mistake on my application (just spotted it) my college years are 1 year out.

Phoned UCAS up and they said it's OK, they aren't really bothered about dates, just the qualifications.

Good luck Chris - hopefully they wont keep you waiting too long. We have a 2 week turnaround, not sure about Trent.

Clifton isnt the nicest of places, however in comparison to St Anns, Hyson Green, Basford et al its lovely! (I only live a wee way away from Clifton on the south side too )

Progress so far is minimal

I'm half way through the application form for student loan, but need to consult my dad about the best bank account for one before finishing that off.

Accomodation I can't book until May the 5th, but we get our application packs at some point this month.

So at the minute, it goes slow, but thanks for asking anyway!

I'm looking at Chester, Southampton and Portsmouth. Well they are the 3 i've looked at so far. I've been looking on the UCAS website for universities to look at.
I'm looking to do a joint honours in Journalism and English. I've got to apply by the end of this year though, it's scary!

I've booked my accomodation, after 2 hours of trying yesterday afternoon. The NTU servers died rather quickly. But I persisted and I got the place i wanted to (the right block too which has been refurb'd and has bigger rooms!)

Not only that, Most of the people in the same block as me are on the Student Room forum too so I already semi-know them

Student loan app is all done and sent off for too... Now I just have to wait until October the 2nd

It's just confusing and y'know the personal statement is supposed to be 4000 characters? Well I get it down to that, and it says i'm 36 characters over the limit...

So then I cut it down to that and it says i'm 4 lines over the limit, so now i'm just getting incredibly pissed at the whole thing and I want it to be over now...
