I read the paper today and JARED FLUFFING LETO was here in Iceland!!! on tuesday!!!! ahhhhh well he landed here then flew to Greenland where he is directing his new video for 30stm, he is doing it with an Icelandic company hence him coming here I think. The Icelandic co director says it will be shot on glaciar and ice and stuff coooooool

diary of the 30 STM gig, 27th January 2008:
After a very nice meal, me and Jue and Nete arrive at Manchester Academy, to be glared at by members of the 'Echelon' - the 30STM forum members. Jue quickly coins our own echelon phrase 'too cool for cagoules' as all the echelon seem to be wearing red cagoules and we are obviously 'n00bs of the highest.....well, echelon' really 
With chins held high we go into the Academy and its a really nice venue. In Case Of Fire are the support act and while I adore the music, the lead singers vocals don't quite 'fit' the music. They get a good reception though. Afterwards a white sheet comes down to hide the stage while the roadies set up for 30 STM. The lights go down and swirly silhouettes are everywhere and then as Jared becomes visible, every window in the vicinity shatters with the screams. All cameras point at him and it is definitely a case of the Jared Leto show, its not wrong to say that. We get an amazing set list. However, the thing that makes me smile and makes the gig is this: When I watch 30STM videos I always think I'm watching an actor play a rock star. Last night I didn't watch an actor, I watched Jared Leto the singer, the rock star. He was EVERYTHING I expected him NOT to be. He's a fucking amazing singer. He was not acting. He is an amazingly entertaining man. He has a sense of humour. Clearly his acting gives him the confidence to work the crowd, but he had a very relaxed, natural manner to him. No pretentions, no 'look at me I'm a Hollywood Star'. I saw a bloke fronting his band and having the time of his life. Before the last song, Jared announces that we can stay behind if we want anything signed. Me, Jue and Nete look at eachother in a kind of 'well, go on then, seen as you've asked us, twist our arms a bit more, mate' manner
About 10 people leave the venue, the rest of us form the longest signing queue EVER. We are told no photos with the band, they'll sign one item per person only. I run to buy a poster for my daughter. We approach the table in single file. Its all very sedate. Nete tells Jared she hope's he's feeling better ( he mentioned he'd puked earlier in the day), he thanks her. I approach and Shannon signs my poster and doesn't make eye contact. He shoves the poster to Tommo, who signs and doesn't make eye contact. Tommo slides the poster to Jared, who looks up, looks me straight in the eye, smiles and says 'Thank you' to me. I say 'Thank You' back. Those eyes! He still has his black eye liner on. Its really weird, when we met Frankie and Gerard I just wasn't starsrtuck in the slightest. With him I am, I've been 'OMG' all day today! I suppose its something to do with him being a film star, some kind of psychological thing. If you can possibly understand what I'm feebly trying to explain! more piccies

Awesome band, visceral and totally action–packed, energetic live performance, and such fantastic people. Loved it. I even got a 30 Secs track jacket which looks sexeh…

I got the opportunity to see this band live at the beginning of this year, not only that but i got to meet them. Got around three or four things signed by them. Cool or what? However i don't think they were allowed to talk much or it could have been the fact that there was so many people in the queue to meet them that they were thirsty for a drink or two. lol | ||||||

Yes, the queue went round the venue. We were at the same gig! Why did they have gloves on when they were signing stuff? That's bugged me ever since! |
