ana's songi'm naming this topic Ana's song because I don't want to name it "Anorexia". I just hate that word.
For those of you who know or like Silverchair, Ana's song is the piece written by Daniel Johns when he was fighting anorexia (I should have said for those of you who don't know Silverchair lol).
Anyway I was watching TV tonight and there was this girl who was anorexic a couple of years ago, she weighed about 50 pounds (she was about 5.8). It was very hard to watch. Now she's alright, but it reminded me of one of my bestest friends who's still struggling with anorexia, and well... just take care of your body everyone. It's easy to become anorexic/bulimic/whatever...
I know I, 30 years old at the time, became anorexic after Chad died.. never meant to... never thought I would... but at the time the thought of food made me sick... and I lost over 40 pounds in 2 or 3 months. I came very close to being hospitalized...
I came through, and after that over-compensated and put on lots and lots of pounds... so now I'm still struggling with my weight, in a different way.. and it'll be two years in september.
I'm just saying... I got lucky, I realized at some point that wow, i needed to do something. Now I''ve got about 10 pounds to lose, but it's ok. I live my life normally, it's just "another goal". But anorexia is a real disease, and a deadly one at that. So be careful, and if you have friends experiencing that kind of thing, be there for them. Thats just what I wanted to say.
