DreamsI am really interested in dreams and sleep. I believe dreams are a good source of information about your wellbeing at that time..for instance if you are feeling down, your dreams may be ones were you are being chased for example.. Anyway, I tend to every few months get recurring dreams, well one certain thing in the dream keeps recurring again and again.Over the last week I have been dreaming about volcanos..The first time it was on an island and we couldnt get off it was a horrible dream awful things happend and then last night there were 2 separate eruptions one was just smoke and gas and the next one was a violent lava one and a ball of lava landed right at my feet! I think dreams are things you have been thinking about lately or things that have happend in the past. What does anyone else think? Does anyone have an idea about my dream? |

im really quite weird (hehe yeah i know you all know that) where dreams are concerned! i have a recurring dream where all is ok, i get in the car and i start it and i drive off down the street, im humming along to music on the radio and then i go cold, and i remember that i dont actually know how to drive! then there is a brick wall! i always wake up before i crash though! i also suffer from night terrors, i have done for a couple of years now, i wake up covered in sweat totally terrified, but i cant remember what i dreamed or what im supposed to be scared of, but it takes me about an hour to calm down enough to go back to sleep again!! any interpretations gratefully considered  i sleep much better during the day!! i have to have the light on and the tv on all night!

Oh night terrors must be awful..I do wake up sometimes esp if the dream was scary! I do have a recurring car dream, usually Im driving and like you realise I dont know how to drive!(which i really dont) and am speeding down a hill, then it just jumps to something else.
I think I would say about this kind of dream, is that subconciously you have a fear of loosing control in a situation.. The people in my dreams are always people I went to school with and always set in my home in ireland and my old schools and town. I rarely if ever dream of people I have met in the last 6yrs and can only remember one dream set in Iceland(it was great I met MCR! LOL) I always dream of my best friend from school, we ended our friendship on bad note and have not spoken in over 6years. I am always looking for her in the dreams she is in, obviously trying to resolve the situation. I would say Caroll that the reason you sleep better in the day is that you subconciously and conciously associate sleeping with night time, so it is probably easier for you to sleep in the day because you think less chance of having a night terror, as it'a not "night time sleep". This is just my opinion.I read a great book on sleep called "counting Sheep" gives you some great advice. |

night terrors is the single most scary thing ive ever encountered! its irrational, because as soon as im awake i cant remember what ive dreamed, but all the hairs are stood out on my neck and im terrified, but as soon as i turn the tv up and start watching it the feeling starts to go, but not enough to sleep, yeah i agree, i think day time its easier to sleep, because things are less scary, everything is intensified at least 50% at night time! im lucky though i work from home so if i need to i can sleep during the day and work into the night! :-) i also agree about the driving dream, i dont know how to drive either, hehe, it must be a losing control thing!
thats sad about you and your friend ending things on a bad note, maybe this dream is telling you to find her, and put things right? or maybe its just that you wish you had not parted the way you did, and maybe feel you would like to appologise? ooh i dont know but its all fascinating! i would mind the MCR dream though!!!

I definitely know the dream about my friend is me trying to apologise, and the fact I have no friends here thats prob why she is in them, but I have to say, I wrote a poem about her a few months back and haven't dreamt of her since, which was nice.
This morning I woke and remembered every single thing of my last dream, I was obviously in REM stage or dreaming stage as I woke straight from the dream. I was in South Africa(my friend just went back hime there) and stephen and I were looking after orphans, then I lost him and this woman took me to her shack, she was a black woman, so there I dreamt in colour coz she was more brown than actually black, and she gave me a huge bowl of stew for free and then I sat down outside to eat it and this white man came over and told me that noone here is my friend and I have to look out for myself. Then these other African women came over and I was looking at the bowl of food and it was full of green asparagus! Then I woke up! The random thing is Stephen dreamt we were in South Africa too! lol Another dream I remember from last night, was I was stuck in the elevator at work and it was spinning around it was horrible :S |

awww Karen it sound as if youre lonely over there!!! you need more female friends, havent you met any nice people that you would like to hang out with?
maybe writing that poem was the closure you needed, and now you wont dream of your ex friend again! but just in case, theres always friends reunited
i try not to put too much significance on dreams though, i tend to be over analytical anyway, so trying to work out why i need to work with a washing up liquid bottle on my head (one of my bizarre dreams) would just make my brain bleed 
its weird that Stephen dreamed of South Africa too though, what are the chances of that happening?? |

Well our friend just went back to South Africa for a few months, so thats probably why we were dreaming of it.. She is my only friend too, she is from SA and I met her when we came here 2 1/2yrs ago. We live miles apart though only see each other once a month maybe.
As for friends united..Well I actually saw her on Bebo(like myspace) the other day, on her cousins page, it was nice to see she wasn't really thin anymore, but not so nice to see who she was obviously still with :roll: Anyway.. Dreams, yeh had some mad ones lately. Stephens brother in law, had tried to kill us, we pretended to be dead, he went upstairs(we were in this huge old house) Ste was shot or knifed, so I ran out of the house and found a neighbour and used their phone. Eventually I ended up back at my parents house and we got a call from the Brother in law saying he was gonna kill Ste..me and my dad and my bro got in a car and drove somewhere. Then we were at the village phone box and John *brother in law* pulled up and had a gun, he said he killed ste and was gonna get me, I picked up a stop sign  and started swinging it at him, then used it as a bullet proof shield to protect my brother!! Just as my dad was reaching for his gun, I woke up! Stephen was rubbing my arm, as he said I was breathing crazy!! haha

Carroll, by night terrors do you mean Sleep Paralysis, a state between being awake and sleeping, the reverse to Sleep Walking really, this is where your mental state is opened but physical closed where in sleep walking it is the opposite. It used to be known as the "hag" and where the myth of the boogeyman comes from to haunt you in the night.. you may experience someone sitting on you stopping you from moving or something in your room watching you, its a horrible feeling.. you cannot move or speak at all but you are in the surroundings of your bedroom.. this is why people confuse it with reality and is apparantly what people experience when they say that they have been abducted by aliens. I have suffered from this since I was a very young girl but haven't had it since I came to uni which I find very strange... Karen according to my dream book, a woman to dream of volcanoes it means "that her selfishness and greed will lead her into intricate adventures" .. weird :? I would say it meant something like a conflict between you and a person, is there something you want to get off your chest? Or something you have been meaning to do for a while but haven't had the guts to do it, I don't know.. And yes its weird when you have the same dream as somebody else a few weeks back I dreamt my flatmate died and haunted my bedroom, I was absoloutely terrified so I phoned my boyfriend. The next day I found out that my boyfriend had dreamt the same night that his house was also haunted and that he got scared and phoned me
I am very interested in my dreams, some lately make no sense they jump very quickly without ending and make no sense. I also have a hell a lot of Muse dreams some of which I have posted in Hannah's thread and I also find it troubling that whenever I dream of my parents they always seem to hate me, shout at me, abandon me, its horrible

Could be true When my mother is in my dreams, I usually end up shouting at her and really crazy dream shouting, or crying for ages, I actually cry alot in my dreams, and again, that really crazy dream crying were it carries from one dream scene to the next and Im all convulsed! weird! And then I wake up and Im breathing really fast and my chest is heaving, like I was actually crying Crying means:Emotional release. Grief. Domestic trials are on the way. Hi tash, no my night terrors are slightly different, i dream really horrific dreams and i wake up (takes me a while) drenched in sweat, but freezing cold, and im terrified, totally terrified, but im not quite sure of what, because as soon as i shake myself awake the dreams just slip through my memory and i cant remember what theyre about, even five minutes later! it takes me forever to go back to sleep, because im convinced that something really really bad is gonna happen to me if i close my eyes, and for the same reason i cant turn my back to the bedroom door to sleep either :cry: i like the sound of your night terrors even less! i think i would totally freak out if i felt someone sitting on my chest! eeeek, that would be a nightmare in itself! Yeah, i wonder what it is about Uni thats made them go away? i would have thought that being in a different environment would have made them worse! thats really cool ! its all really interesting though

Yeah that does sound terrifying. Well I've been having Sleep Paralysis since I was like 4 or 5 so after a few years I got used to it, but it isn't very nice to have a dark creature lying next to you in bed covering your mouth up, thats what I commonly got but after a while you can also take control of what happens, I have just told the terrors at times t back off (with my mind) and they just stand there watching me and don't harm or scare me in anyway and you can also conjour things, I myself had a little experience trying to conjour matt bellamy It kind of worked he was in my wardrobe peering through the gap he was there for a good five minutes but didn't say much just giggled lol 
But yeah I haven't had it for a good few months since I started Uni... I find that strange... And Karen, some dreams can be quite easy to interpret if you have key objects in them, in your case volcanoes and you just try and relate to what emotions/thoughts/feelings inside of you that a volcano would represent... It seems your website is fairly accurate... my book I have is very old though lol |

Well as I said this is where all these myths come from, The Hag, Boogeyman, Aliens lol They are certainly in our mind but.. do we really know this... Sleep Paralysis isn't talked about very often.. Sleep Walking is more well known... I don't know it is strange I have heard things like it is the devil communicating with you but not sure about that one :? But they have also had incidents of (mainly in countries like India) where people have died in their sleep but.. vicious deaths like scratches and even aphixiation so these things actually killed them Again these are just stories i have heard but I know they believe in Demon Possession in those kind of countries... its all weird...
It also sounds a bit like the Incubus, no not the band where a demonic creatures visits you in the night and takes your soul by having sex with you [url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incubus_(demon)[/url]
I have also had this experience of things trying to seduce me during Sleep Paralysis do I need help? :| lol |

i think it all sounds really really scary, very interesting, but not something i would like to happen to me! ooh yeah, incubus, did you see that movie??i cant remember what it was called, but it was scary stuff, because its based on a true story, and there is a female counterpart too, Succubus! these really do seem to exist though scarily enough!!! there have been so many documentations of them! hehe im scaring myself now

the movie was called The Entity Tash, its quite an old one, from the 70s i think, but because its based on true events its really scary and makes you realise that there is more to this stuff than most people let themselves believe, and this woman still has these events happen to her, although not as fiercely or as often as at first, check it out its worth a watch!
I dont think i could ever get used to that though, i have trouble enough handling just regular nightmares, it would be 100 times worse if those nightmares became a reality! i cant even imagine.... |

I can make things appear in my dreams, like before i fall asleep, I think of something that I want to dream about, or feature in my dream and usually it works! It's quite cool Specially if I want a dream about MCR haha

I'm sure everyone has experienced it... well me and my boyfriend ended up talking about it yesterday he seems to know more about it than I do.. there are different types you can get apparantly.. as in Terrors that visit you I can't remember them all but last night he got the most common one the Hag, an old lady crawled across his bedroom floor in rags and sat on his chest. yeah, well you dont actually get to see the entity, but you see the finger/claw prints as hes touching the woman, you have to remember though it was made in the 70s hehe, so its the atmosphere thats more scary rather than the special effects
ive just read that thread on UNO, eek, i just never knew it was that common! its just not something ive heard about until now! but that would freak me right out, especially when you said about someone being behind you trying to squeeze the life out of you!!! i would have to go to the doctor and get drugs to counteract that hehe, it would seriously freak me out!!

ok last night I had a weird lucid dream (as in I could control it somehow, and I was totally aware that I was dreaming, and even though I woke up a few times, I plunged right back into the dream every time)
I was taking part in a volleyball tournament (I used to play volleyball when I was younger), and I was the only ok player, all the others were shite, couldn't even strike the ball you know. And for some reason i was wearing high heels shoes that didn't help. And then there was that guy, my volleyball coach, an old flame of mine, and he was really touchy feely and stuff, almost in a creepy way. Really weird. I woke up feeling like I'd exercized a lot lol |

I get really weird dreams where I'm back with the people I was at school with, but its always at school but it never looks like school if that makes sense, and like you Manu, I seem to be able to 'control' the dream
The others I get are teeth falling out, the naked in public apart from a hand towel that never protects my dignity (I need a bath sheet :lol: ) and two horrible ones where I'm trying to dial a number on the phone and can never get it right, or the one where I'm seriously late for work and spend 40 minutes making breakfast when I should have been at work 3 hours ago. |

mostly i have dreams that i try very hard to forget, but sometimes i have very weird ones, like the other night, i was in prison, but id promised to make some black curtains for my friend, i got the warden to come and help me with them, she took them home and put gold brocade all down the sides and they looked horrible, and i shouted at her because my friend had wanted them kept plain and simple! now whats that all about?

Last Night, I had this weird dream I was in a shopping mall and I had to leave through a door that I shouldnt be leaving through(dont know why) so I had to put my chocolate bar in my pocket lol So they wouldnt see it. When I left this girl I know that died recently asked me for a cigarette, but I told her i don't smoke anymore. I then continued walking and walking and walking..through long grass and wet grass and for some reason I only had my socks on, which I then took off. I then started walking through peoples homes, which turned out to be people I went to school with..this one house i got lost in and i couldnt find the front door. The house was really extravagent and had pools and weird rooms..the girl who was in the house, was actually a girl i despised in secondary school. I eventually found the way out and then started walking again. trying not to stand on the stones in my bare feet. then i woke up |

oh my I had the most freakish dream last night..was dreaming it when I woke up. So weird...a river of blood and there were all these carcasses of horses, split in two and the back halves (hind legs, tail half of body) were eating the front half!!! I wasn't actually in the dream, but like I was watching it happen in the dream, and I was asking how can they be eating the front half, they dont have a mouth or a brain!!! and then the back half of the horse went over to the front half and scraped its bones off the body of the front, which was eating. it was pretty gorey! I think I have to try to draw it, it was like some scary shit!!!

dream last night was of sharks coming up through the sewers and trying to get through peoples basements, in the dream the sewers were right under the floors so the sharks were jumping up and you could see bumps in the floor/walls were their noses had tried to get through! Again I was more of watching it, like a news show or something. odd |

yeh that horse one, I was dreaming right as my alarm went off, so thats usually when I remember them the most, although I usually remember them throughout the day, things remind me and then they pop in my head lol

As usual I've been having odd dreams lately. Two or three that I remember have a recurring theme.
What's odd is the people that are in the dreams that would maybe be from my subconscious telling me something, are people I haven't seen since Secondary and one girl I was never even friends with! I just don't understand my brain sometimes |

yeah dreams are so bizarre, i dreamed just before i got married, that the girl who did my hair had told me that she wouldnt cut it unless i wore an empty washing up liquid bottle on my head for at least two days before i went to have it cut! surely that cant have a deeper meaning.....can it?

I had a very weird dream last night... I was at a massive feast with lots of people that I used to see all the time but don't anymore, and they were all digging into the food. I went to have some but everything was rotten and disgusting. They kept telling me to have some, it was delicious but I refused... probably means something in the world of Freud! |

hmm Hannah, to me, that sounds like you don't want the things in life that 'other people' may take for granted. I don't know much about you, but you seem like a pretty original girl, so I would think maybe you are interested in things that your old friends may not be, and maybe you have just had a subconcious moment where your mind is realizing you are different than the other peeps.
Which to me is a good thing, no one wants to be a sheeple! lol Me? My dreams have mostly centred around me harming myself. The dream can be so random and then I look down and my arm is all slashed up. Russell Brand asking me why I did it? or my mam covering up for me! Ive had at least 5 dreams with this in the last 2 weeks which is the average dream remembering amount for me. Last night I dreamt I ws Dexter from the tv show! well, lets just say...he's a murderer!!! |

eughh i had horrible nightmares last night. The same vampire guys kept coming for me in my dreams throughout the whole night!
I was in a graveyard and they jumped over a wall and started chasing us, but they didn't just have fangs, they had full row of sharp shark teeth but the re were like 12 rows of teeth! AHH they got me so many times, this one part I had to hide under my blanket and try not to breathe so hard, they were right beside me, it was terrifying! |

my mam told me that my (non bloodrelated) aunts niece had a new baby and he has downs syndrome. I was thinking quite a lot about that yesterday and had horrible dreams of babies with mermaid legs and toes so long it was scary, but I loved the baby in the dream.
That was when I finally got to sleep of course :roll: |

I actually had a dream I can remember!
I was with a group of people I went to school with, but we were all 36/37 as we are now (I haven't seen or talked to most of them since we left in 1987) and then one of my closest mates from adulthood appeared and went off with them, and I remember tihnking 'they always do that' and suddenly I'm at the top of a ladder washing a window, but the window is stuck onto the outside of the wall and all I can see through the window is bricks.

Wow that is a very cool dream! I think as I may have said before, that some dreams are just silly things various memories from the day or tv etc jumbled all together, but then there are the ones that tell you what your mind is thinking, or the kind of ones that tell you what is worrying you.
I think yours could be interpreted Ali, whereas mine from last night, was me getting a medical exam... ahem..."down there" and the doctor told me I had a lovely vagina  That was because I was talking to my friend about her visit with the midwife lol

you crack me up! You certainly had an interesting dream there! I love how what seems like 'randomness' of a conversation or an event can creep into dreams and get shuffled around! I had weird dreams when I was pregnant, but I can't remember them now. The pregnancy hormones made me go stranger than normal!
I do think mine should be analysed, the window stuck on a wall and looking at bricks is definitely some kind of 'dead end' thing. |

yes I think the ladder could be that you feel you have put yourself out there in regards to something, but with the window being bricked up, you can't see where this situation is going?
I mean obviously it's your dream, so you interpret it to your world, but thats why I love dreams, because, I mean you should know your own mind, even if it's something your subconcious is throwing up there that you don't want to think about, you can analyze it and tell what it is. The old school friends and the situation you described could be that you are afraid things will never change. I dunno lol I had a weird dream as usual two nights ago, an old school friend was at a dinner with me and Stephen Hawking wheeled up and my friend pulled him out of his wheelchair onto a normal chair and we were all saying how happy we were to see him and he hit on me!! haha |

the ladder and the brick wall could be several situations in my life right now.
The ladder is possibly reference to my feelings that I can't go any higher/further in my job, hence the new career I'm training for. The window could be any number of things! Too many to mention! As for the school friends, maybe, but why would one of my closest friends from now go off with them? Maybe I'm worried about something like that in real life, but in real life we are so close. As for Stephen Hawking hitting on you, I'm stumped! Where did that come from? |

The friends thing, could just be a jumble dream, sometimes they just don't make any sense... Like Stephen Hawking! lol I have no idea where he came from! We may have spoke about him the other day? I don't know lol
A recurring dream I have lately is Tara running away, or me leaving her somewhere or we are in a new place and Tara gets out and doesn't know how to come back

I had horrible nightmares the other night after watching The House of 1000 corpses.. It wasn't a particularly scary film, it was pretty shit actually, but I had this horrible dream of being chased around these towns and then the evil guy from the film caught me and was doing terrible things and then as they were burying the other girls alive I managed to "persuade" him that he needed me around, so he kept me! it was scary though

I'm having those regression style dreams again, the ones where I'm back with people I went to school with.... I think I've nailed it though, my daughter is in the same class at secondary school with the son of a girl I went to the same secondary school with and was in the same class. I wonder if that's why, my daughter and this lad have really hit it off as mates and it must have 'stirred' something deep in my dream like states!

I never dream about the OH! Don't know why........... I dream about the kids, seperation anxiety things, They're on the other side of a busy road and I can't get to them and they're shouting for me kinda stuff.
As for Stephen's dreams.... I have no idea what to suggest! Analysis?

Ok all of you guys who can interpret dreams, here is a good one for you.
I dreamed of a guy that I don't know and had already dreamed of the night before. I had a crush on him but we couldn't hook up lol because there was always someone in the way or something. Anyhow. Last night in my dream there was a terrible pandemy of a deadly virus, and dead people everywhere I was at a party when the outburst occurred and only three or four people survived. Outside there were dead animals and dead people every where. My dad was sick but not dead yet. (it gets weirder) I found out somehow that my parents had received a ltter from Chad that was destined to me but never gave it to me. it contained a pic. I remember spending ages in my dreams trying to figure out why he hadn't written me directly in the first place (like I'd lost my memory and it bugged me). But I was happy. People were dying everywhere and yet I was deliriously happy because I'd just discovered that Chad was alive! And we got together of course. And everybody had either lost a spouse or relative or gf/bf but we'd just found each other (like reality had been reversed)./ We spent ages trying to find a place where we could make out (again!!!! I need to talk to my shrink about that, I'm sure there's some hidden meaning). It was a bit like a castle/labyrinth with traps everywhere and surprises around every corner. We did it on a rug after all, and I remember looking at him and thinking he was absolutely perfect (and blonde now, whereas on the pic, he had dark hair). After that.. I remember trying to save people. We had a treatment/cure that helped but didn't really cure, just gave more time I think. I learned how to draw blood from my mother (who was dead before but came back to life at that point in my dream, go figure). I also discovered that the guy from the night before had died on the second day of the outbreak. now what the hell????? |

I had this crazy horrible dream last night. I woke up in my bed and looked out my window, I had forgotten to close the blinds and everyone that was out in the garden could see in, I only had a slip kind of nightdress on, so I ran to the window and closed the blind. Outside I saw all the boys in their late teens and they were cutting each other with razors all over their faces, as I ran out the door I realized they were on drugs as they were getting off the drug tree(?!!) I went over to one of them to ask them to stop and it was my 22yr old brother! He had some cuts on his face and his arms like the others, I asked him to stop as I said they will regret this all in the morning, but he was out of it and was calling me a rat and saying I was going to tell my parents. Some guy came along and sliced me along my arm and then I woke up!

Oh, that is horrible! I know what you mean about the drug tree though (I mean, not that in particular) I have that type of odd realisation in my dreams all the time. Dreams like that are really weird though, when they don't focus on you, they just focus on the actions of others.
The other night I dreamt that I was outdoors in the woods and it was very autumnal, autumnal to the extreme, like in a stylistic film. I was with my nonboyfriend and we were totally alone. Now here's the weird part... I was REALLY small, like four feet tall (but perfectly proportionate) and he was huge, about seven feet! Throughout the whole dream he kept on laughing at me for being so tiny and cute. Anyway, we went cycling together, with bikes that were appropriate to our sizes, and went all the way to a castle. Once we got there, we turned back and cycled to the place we started off in, but on the way back the same path was so deep in mud that it came up to my waist! We did manage to cycle through it though, somehow, although it took a really long time. Now if that's not representative of difficulty in our relationship and me feeling small, I'd like to see what is. |

The fact that you got to the castle and just turned back though.. that could be that the relationship was/is going nowhere and the muddy part was the break up. The size could also be that as he was so big in the dream, that he is just too much to take on. My dream was crazy alright, yes I fully new that that tree was the drug tree lol |

I had a really weird dream about time travel last night, I kept ending up in the wrong place. I was looking for tara as she had gotten lost and every cat I saw looked like her, but when I checked for her small black mark under her chin it was never there It was a horrible dream

Had a very vivid dream last night that I was at the top of my hotel making a video of the sea, when a huge blot of lightning came from the sea and struck a car, then I looked through my camera and saw this gigantic cloud system on top of the water, it started to change and then a figure of a man came into being and rose from the sea, he was as high as the sky and had this weird shell on his back, he was all electric and had a huge fork thing that he shot out lightning from, I remember thinking in the dream, oh shit this is really happening! This isn't even a dream this is real! I was so scared and then my family were all beside me in a big bed and we were huddling together and my lil sis kept talking and we were trying to keep her quiet then he came right to our balcony and started syaing all this stuff, I have no idea what, then all these other figures started swimming under the water and they all rose up from the sea and they were hunting people too with their forks of lighting!
At one point I then though to myself this is a dream lol I watched 30 days of night yesterday lol |

ok um... just thought id post some dreams ive been havin lately... and bump this thread cuz dreams be interestin to me
aaaaaaaaaaaanyhoo... i wouldnt exactly call these "nightmares" as such, cuz well tbh the arent actually scary.... just they freak me out right, its kinda hard to explain but here goes... its like every time i go to sleep the dream starts out normal...ish... (youve not seen my dreams, ill post more later) but suddenly i get a phone call from someone called The Melon Lover. they arent in my contacts list, but instead of the number it says that everytime they ring up they say "I know you! Be careful..." it sorta sounds like one of my mates, but higher pitched. every time this happens i wake up and cant sleep for another half an hour ive been losin sleep over these so... they be buggers anyway, just wanted to see what anyone thought... wow me with your wisdom! |
