Here comes the Summer!

Summery Type stuff...

What are people doing over the summer?

Any festivals/gigs/holidays etc...

TreeHeart

There are lots of things I would love to do, alas I only get one weekend free out of 4 Gonna miss Damien Rice here again!

I have a month off from mid august though Don't know what the plan is, as yet again the problem of what to do with the kitty has arisen(those of you may remember from last year I spent the week alone at home while Stephen went camping with our friends from Ireland)
It costs 1000kr/13$/6.84£ a night to put her in the kattholt(cathotel), so I don't know what we will do yet
SuperGinge

aww sucky...Well at the moment the only plans i have are I'm going to Tenby, in Wales in July with my mate...but the rest of the time i don't know what i'm going to do...see if anything interesting crops up
hystericali

Leeds Festival on the Friday for me, my daughter, my very good mate and her daughter (my daughter's best mate)

MSI, Avenged Sevenfold, SLIPKNOT, and Metallica

also

MSI gig on the 10th July

also

A weekend in London with my daughter and a long weekend with the bloke and both kids, Scarborough perhaps.

That's it so far....
Museclues

ali i envy you..going to see the knot and avenged sevenfold!!!

[i dont know who MSI are]

im just going to palm springs again for 4th of july and thats about it.. a lamish summer..

but usually fun things spring up the day before.
SuperGinge

MSI are Mindless Self Indulgence Paige

Aww Ali Im so jealous! You're going to leeds festival! I've wanted to go to that for years! My parents say i'm too young to go to festivals :S scared im going to take drugs or something lol, im really not that stupid...Can't start going to them till i'm 16...so i miss out on MUSE! I was so angry about that! Oh well...Only two months to wait, then i can start going to festivals
hystericali

This is the last summer my daughter is free, from next year I have to pay.    Its her second time there.

I work on the theory that if she has been to festivals with me, she'll have a clue when she does one on her own.

My daughter also had the best anti drugs education ever when we went in 2006 (some band called Muse were there   ) as in within 10 minutes of arriving she'd seen people both high and coming down and she looked at me and went 'is that what drugs do to you?' and it put her off.

Festivals are scary and I'll be worrying when she's at her first one with her mates.

Its not my daughter I worry about so much, its who else is there.
SuperGinge

Yeah, i think its the same with my parents...I used to be mates with a dude who did drugs, and i saw what he was like stoned and when he was recovering from it....not a pretty site at all...

I just can't wait for my first festival I'm a festival virgin
jensmuse

mr_x

Summer... hmmmm

I'll be working, I know that for sure.

I'll also be looking for a new job which means I'll most likely have to move away from my native Geordie Land I love living here, but for what I do I can't get anything of a career in this area.
jensmuse

hmmmm new job mean more money

more moneys always a good things
mr_x

Yeah, I earn min wage where I work now, not enough to run my car on, and I'm not getting rid of my car! It's my baby.
Ninja-Boy

move to yorkie land much much better

and youve got a lovely boyfriend? who is it?
mr_x

Ninja-Boy wrote:

there's bugger all there too! It's looking like getting shot in Nottingham or getting shot in Leicester.

Or there is always Birmingham.

I'll never move to London though... I hate the place!

Ninja-Boy wrote:

I hope that wasn't aimed at me.
jensmuse

There is 1 vital thing missing though.....

The Geordie Atmosphere. I think there's no city in the world better than Newcastle, especially for atmosphere. If you've never been to the Toon, then you should visit!

I've been to London, Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham and Leicester in the past and each time I've felt threatened by people walking behind me.

If I go to Newcastle I feel relaxed with everything and everyone around, I feel as if I drop my wallet the bloke behind will pick it up and give it back (it has happened before too!)
jensmuse

wow doesnt sound but the footies crap :p
mr_x

:O

what are you saying about the football? o.O

It's religion here!!
Ninja-Boy

only yorkie place youve said is leeds and everyone hates them! thats not a fair judgement!

and yeah... the footies crap there...
mr_x

I'm not listening
Ninja-Boy

yesssssssss you are!
SuperGinge

You should move to birmingham! I live near there lol

I'm getting my gcse results as well in the summer jensmuse
Good luck with yours
mr_x

hehe... I suppose 1 good thing is from living online I know people everywhere, I have loads of friends in Nottingham, some in Leicester (off to a bbq party in Notts next month), loads of friends in Birmingham... So wherever I go at least I'll know somebody who lives nearby.
Ninja-Boy

yeah! i could go anywhere in the world really
mr_x

yep... Australia is even an option!
SuperGinge

lol, i thought of moving to australia when i'm older...but i went to italy last year and i've just fallen in love with the place...so i'm moving there instead
mr_x

The only forign place I've fallen in love with is Malta. But I can't see an island of that size having much opportunity for computer techs like me.

Thing is though, despite the expense of the UK I couldn't find myself leaving it, what other country can both moan and queue as well as us Brits do it?
TreeHeart

I tell ya, they don't fecking queue here! Pisses me off when I have to go to the chemist, bloody scrum trying to get to the till!
mr_x

One of my favourite quotes from Andy Parsons:
"British people are good at 2 things. Moaning and queuing. Why do we join a queue? just so we can have a bloody good moan about it!"
ashentara

I'm deffo moving to Australia when I ... retire I think.

Never been there, but it does feel like home to me. Weird eh.

anyhows, sunburns aplenty here, it's been summer for a few days, and I wasn't prepared ah ha

He said it on Mock the Week when one of the subjects was Britishness. I don't think it's on youtube though.
SuperGinge

lol yeah i saw that episode
Made me laugh, cause it is actually true, every queue, if there is a british person in it, you'll hear us moan
mr_x

Well... Looks like that's the summer over and done with for another year.
hystericali

I was thinking that. Its the longest day soon too, and where is summer?
TreeHeart

Yesterday was 17ºc when I was walking home and I got burned! Not badly, but you can see my round neck tshirt mark on my chest lol Had to pack the suncream today The only thing with summer here, it may be warm, but we always have a wind that makes it not warm enough, but makes you get sunburned :S
hystericali

grey, miserable, typical weather today
mr_x

yep, wasn't particularly warm here today.

Global Warming? what a load of rubbish!
TreeHeart

Nice warm Icelandic summers, polar bears coming ashore(and being killed ) I'd go in for global warming alright.

Museclues

"now isnt that a oad of horse crap!!!"[from the movie accepted]

i love polar bears!theyre my favorite animal!

to ill an animal..they will pay.."we had no ohter way..." u culda tranquilized it and taken it to the zoo or even better one of its natural habitats..

anyway it was almost 90 degress here in L.A.! its getting hotter!

get out you swimsuits peoples! :smt048

no more school and less chores! summer!
Helen

prepare for 2 weeks of rain and cold my Brother in law and family have arrived from Chicago - it is always horrible when they come over!
TreeHeart

It was sad they killed both bears, the first time they didn't have the tranq gun nearby and the bear was too near people, the second time they had the cage, the gun but they waited to long and the bear went to swim away, so they were afraid they would loose him at sea and then he would come ashore soomewhere else, so they chose to shoot him.
Sadly we don't have a big zoo here, just a petting zoo. He was to be shipped back to Greenland had he survived.
They have set up a polar bear task force now though, so hopefully I wont have to eat my breakfast while looking at bloody(literally) photos of a dead polar bear, which is my favourite animal

Sorry Helen, I just read the weather report and yes you are forecast really bad weather
hystericali

yes, I'm looking out the window and feeling totally depressed. Its exactly the same as this time last year. My OH went to the USA and the weather was like this last year.

I've had to put the central heating on!
mr_x

Oh how I love Consett...

The weather says "strongest winds were about 60mph today"

WRONG... Up here in Consett we had a gust of 67mph aparently.

But because we're not a big city and we don't exist since the Steelworks shut down... we don't count.

I remember last time we had severe gales Consett had a gust of 94mph... that was scary!! It was on the night of the earthquake too, I thought our house was falling to bits from the wind, but then found out it was an earthquake.
Ninja-Boy

i went to london the day after that earthquake (politics trip with college, dont ask) and they were in frikkin pandemonium about a coupla peeps in london had their teacups knocked off their tables
-_-

haha! It's actually been quite warm today...but now my family have the fire on...so i'm slowly suffocating...haha
mr_x

It was sunny here today, but still only 12C.

Summer STILL isn't here.
SuperGinge

Same...Its all grey
But my exams are overrr!!!!!!!!!!!! So its officially the summer holidays for me now
Yayyy!
Museclues

its been so hot, and all the pools are filled up..

the only good news out of not having a pool in my backyard is that im trying out for volleyball at my new high school!its very hard, and i dunno if i'll make it...i catn overhand serve right!! but i can spike a bit..

but i have sumer school oohhh jeeeeeesus![the way they said it on the starlight dvd wen that thing happened with dom's pants or something?]

it starts really some ughghh!
SuperGinge

Aww Volleyball! How awesome Paige! You do a summery sport! The only sport i do is snowboarding...haha

well i didnt make it, but im not a dramatic queen..so anyway!

on one of my tryout days i went up for the spike and the strongest girl on the team spiked it right into my throat/chin...i have a giant slash type mark on my chin[i know, i thought it be round eh?] and i couldnt breath for over a minute!!!it was horrible...but i think its funny when people go up for spikes aqnd miss, and theyt like idiots hitting noting but air...

im an average snowboarder...i like tricks and going off ramps but i dont like the speed, especially i hate the lifts!!they scare me, especially when i have acrophobia![fear of heights]
mr_x

I still see no evidence of this summer thing...
TreeHeart

You should move to Iceland, we have had sun every day of June! Sadly that means in the South the have a drought again this summer.
TreeHeart

wow All of June we had sun, now the first day of July rain and clouds and stormy! Scheduled to rain all week too!
mr_x

2nd day of bright and sunny weather here. :o

Yesterday it was breaking news... HEAT WAVE HIT CONSETT!!
21C... we were all melting!
wildflower

today its grey and overcast but also very humid! i wish we could have some uninterupted sun like yesterday, but for longer than one day, that would be great
TreeHeart

Oh man It is so warm! It's 17º the hottest its been all summer, but there is no sun, lots of clouds, it's so clammy and humid eughhh sticky
wildflower

yeah, its like that again here today, i hate this kind of weather, it seems to just sap all your energy!
mr_x

I feel a summer thunderstorm coming... I really hope there is one! It'll help clear the air of pollen and my hayfever will relax for a while!
TreeHeart

rain all morning, then cleared up nicely for walking home, when it got really hot! Had to buy new sun cream, factor 30 hehe In France I used factor 60 for babies
SuperGinge

I love thunderstorms...especially when theres lightning...I want to video one...i'm that cool

It hasn't really been that nice here, some days its been warm, then it will just suddenly rain...quite annoying really, cause i'll put a summery dress on, go to town, and halfway through the day it will rain...

And paige, you're a better snowboarder than me then..i can't do any tricks yet...i've only been doing it a few months though...i think i'm gonna go to one of those beginner ramp night things...hmm
ashentara

what summer??, you mean, summer's here???

I'm still wearing turtlenecks
damm I need to move
Sunburn

I was thinking actually now being July, it should be renamed "Here comes the Autumn"..
mr_x

I still see now sign of summer in the Costa-Del-Consett (as the chavs call this town! Quite often shortened to just 'The Costa-Del')... We aren't even anywhere near the coast... the idiots!
wildflower

rain, rain and more bloody rain, i hate rain, my hair goes all flat and i look like a little pinhead! ooh what an attractive picture i paint
mr_x

It's raining again... about 13C... it's getting colder as days go on!!!
TreeHeart

oooh this global warming really is doing well for Iceland
mr_x

Is this summer? :o

20C in Consett at this early time of the day... Bugger me!
TreeHeart

We never got that thunder yesterdays humidity warned of. Just lots of rain and clammyness
mr_x

I wouldn't mind a good thunderstorm right now.
SuperGinge

I'm BURNT! FROM WALES!

You don't get burnt in Wales! It's not a hot country....although i did spend 6 hours on the beach....which could be a contributing factor....but still! Burnt in wales!

It was quite warm here today, although i've spent most of the day in bed....too lazy to get up...haha

I need motivation to get out of bed....
mr_x

Nah, it's possible to get burnt in Wales...

When you get burnt in Scotland, that's when you have to worry, because it's one of the signs that the start of the apocalypse is near.
SuperGinge

haha...but still...WALES! You don't usually get burnt in wales....its not a dry country! haha...
mr_x

it's further south than me... we Northerners would get burnt in Wales.
SuperGinge

lol....i'm not sure where it is compared to tamworth....it could be a bit south, it could be a bit north...i'm not sure really....never been good with geography
mr_x

it's directly west of you.
SuperGinge

Oh...Fair enough...haha

See, i told you i'm rubbish at my geography....

But i went to south Wales...so it might be a bit south of me
mr_x

Depends which part of Wales really.

I got a C in Geography GCSE... Which is a miracle considering my coursework was graded at a high F/low E grade.... If my coursework was up to scratch I should have had at least an A! I aparently got 98% on my exam.
SuperGinge

Bloody hell! 98%!!!! I doubt i'll get anything close to that on my exams

And i went to Tenby
mr_x

I dunno where abouts in Wales that is.

Best thing about that Geography one was that I gave up on it after getting my coursework grade, so didn't even revise for the exam... Luckily alot of it was about volcanos and earthquakes... and I was awesome at that part!
SuperGinge

Tenby's south wales...well thats what i was told...haha

My geography teacher tried to convince me to take GCSE geography....after he had insulted me about my handwriting and presentation and the fact that i constantly talked in class...haha...
mr_x

haha I have the worlds worst handwriting, it's so bad, that not even I can read it!

My teachers hated me for it

I just laughed and said "computers are the way forwards!! No handwriting needed!"
SuperGinge

Its true though...people hardly write anymore....they use computers...

And bloody hell! Its absolutely boiling outside! I just stepped out and it was like a heat wave!
mr_x

27C yesterday... it's started at 21C now today... my hayfever is through the roof... I hate it!

There's ment to be some thunderstorms coming this afternoon... can't wait for them, I love a good thunder storm
hystericali

It hammered it down here for an hour and we got one lousy rumble of thunder
mr_x

we've just got a bit of heavy rain... no thunder... yet

I want the air to be less sticky dammit!
hystericali

its going to really hot in the next 10 minutes. Its got that horrible feel to the air. If you know what I mean.
mr_x

yeaah... i hate it when it's really hot and humid
TreeHeart

It was 88% humidity here last night eughh so hot and sticky, no thunder or lightning yet though.
SuperGinge

How annoying....i hate it whens its really humid, cause i wake up in the middle of the night all sweaty

Damnit! Its been raining, and we haven't had any thunder or lightning yet!! Is it too much to ask for some interesting weather?!?!
hystericali

cracking storm during the small hours of Friday morning, it was overhead.

I totally freaked as we are on the ridge of a hill, and we have quite a tall metal chimney (we have the worlds worst and oldest heating system) and I kept thinking that lightening seeks the best path down to the ground, it likes metal, therefore our chimney was going to get it, pass down through the chimney stack in my daughters bedroom and go straight down into the boiler, and my car engine is about 10 inches from the boiler..... all that oil and petrol.......

I still enjoyed the storm though. It woke the kids up so we all went nd watched it downstairs - near the door!
SuperGinge

Wow! Was there lightning??
Museclues

wow ali...thats a bit scary...

but in te other hand, storms are fun to sit and listen to!very calming sometimes...
mr_x

I love a good thunderstorm
