I think the title pretty much said it all. WOW!!!!!!! He is very cool and told me all about Matt at college and the stuff he composed and where he sat (which is where I sit!!!) and he says that he has his compositions on tape and written down if they would interest me!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'm going to ask him lots of questions if anyone wants to know anything...

We should compile a set of questions. I see him for about 6 hours a week, so there's plenty of time!

And yes, I feel this mystical urge to speak very low and very fast and play something wonderful on the piano... the very piano he played for his A levels... *sighs*

Han, I suggest you to ask him first if those questions seem pertinent :

How long he had him as a student ?
How was Matt during these lessons (his behaviour) ?
Has this music teacher even thought he had a genius or he could make a carreer in music ?
Has he met other pupils like him ?
Has he met him since this time.?

That's amazing. I have two slightly scatter brained women. But it's all good fun, apart from the fact that there are only two people in the class who are both pretty quiet and it's all awkward and 'orrible.

I had Iorwerth today for music and the converstaion turned to Matt...

Apparently he had Matt for the 2 years of A level, during which Matt was an astounding student who really knew what he was doing. He's going to bring in all his written coursework, commentaries and his actual performance and composition tapes! He also said that he has met very few like Matt in his time as a music teacher, and could tell that he was going to go on to do something more musically. He also said that he liked my SmBH top hehe!

yea. Don't share it for a few reasons,
1) because it's nice to have it to yourself and it will be appreciated a lot more
2) because it is still Matt's property in a way and if it gets out people will abuse the information etc. I dno.. just a thought :-)

Iorwerth told me today that Matt used to bring in loads of weird and bizarre songs on his walkman thingy to discuss and analyse in class, and that it's just like the stuff I bring

Apparently he used to bring in stuff like Chinese solo classical guitar pieces, strange Indian piano pieces and stuff...

I've realised that this music course is far too hard for me though. Everyone else is so much better, it's depressing

A C is fine. Really. I have a friend in uni now who got a D at AS level and reached a B for her final year. She's now at Cambridge studying music. LOL! it's insane! I don't know HOW she did it, but she's had ALOT of experience. Her dad is a record company manager ma doodle and her mum teaches a school of about 1800 kids from 4 - 18 music. (piano, clarenet, guitar and like 20 more instruments) So i guess that helped her along..

If you really feel unsure about the grade you can always drop it next year, but i don't think you should take that way out m'dear. I'm pants at reading music but i still play the piano. I don't think i've ever followed a piece of music through reading it .. EVER! lol and i've played at some cool festivals and stoof

Seriously, don't give up. Worse comes to worse, come round and beat me up for encouraging you. :-) You should see your number one aspiration and work toward it. Doing whatever it takes. There's no point dreaming of being an amazing pianist and then dropping music and taking up.. lets say... a Plumbing course

wow! i wish i had his music teacher then i would have carried music on. i gave it up before we started doing starting our gcse`s. my music teacher wanted me to carry on doing it as he said i had the right mind and determination for it and he said i also dont let anyone destract me when im on an instrument i just block the reality out in other words. i sometimes look back then and think to myself "what would have i achieved if i carried on with music?" i still do my bits and bobs on the keyboard and guitar now and again but who knows what im gonna be. its scary to think i have only one more year at school.

I actually took music for the first month of my GCSE years. I dropped it because i knew i wasn't as amazingly good as all the other candidates

But it was a mistake. Within the next few months, my mum put me in for a Grade 3 exam (i hadn't had proper lessons) and my piano teacher reckons that i could get to a grade 5 standard (bear in mind grade 2 is minimum for GCSE) by Easter next year!!

If i did take it, i would have probably done ok.. so i regret dropping it!
Mind you, i have my Drama Mock Exam next week which should be wicked!

Keep up music.. i mean worst is worst.. you don't do as well as you hoped. But at the end of the day, you have a tonne of other GCSE's you can excel in. You don't want to regret your descision

the thing is, is that its my future and i was offended by my music teacher as he doesnt speak to me anymore he butts me out when he speaks to a few of my class mates who took music gcse and i was like "if you thought i was good enough why diddnt you notify me with your views before i chose my lessons!?" he could have at least gave me respect and let me say my peace instead of ignoring me all the time. i just hope one day he will regret his actions and prove him wrong
