quick review!
We got on the barrier, Lynz's side but the speakers were in the way alot, but it was busy but we didn't get shoved so I was happy to let my young 'un on there, we had fun!
Jimmy is a LEGEND. He came on in his boxers and proceeded to get dressed during the gig and finished wearing a white tutu and pink fairy wings he got from the audience! He's very funny and we had the best between songs banter ever. We even got a bit of Madonna's 'Crazy For You'
The opened with 'Shut Me Up' and then I can't remember what came where! I'm pants at remembering set lists
As for Lynz, I got really angry as there was obviously some hard core MCR fans there who seemed to have gone with the sole aim of using Lynz as a target. The poor woman had bottles and glow sticks lobbed at her alot and it got to the stage where she yelled 'You missed me, you fucking missed me' at some people, and she kept giving a few people some looks all night.
The woman just ooozes coolness. She has 'it', that undefinable quality and I'm perfectly happy my daughter has adopted her as her icon.
I loved Jimmy's robotic dancing and while he was rude, I didn't find him offensive, very quick witted and clearly very intelligent.
We hung round after and only had to wait 10 minutes for them to come to the front of the barrier and sign stuff. I didn't get close enough to get pics, but my daughter met her hero Jimmy and her heroine Lynz, I met Kitty the drummer (we had to split up for autographs purposes, the crowd was that big) and Steve was a legend, he saw me fiddling with my camera and stood watching me until I sorted and then struck a pose for me while on the stage!!!
Once I find my USB cable I'll get the pictures up.
As is my normal stlye I'll remember some more bits later

PICS!
and finally, Steve posing just for me!

I have lots of MSI goodness to look forward to!
The Rock City gig on the Thursday 1oth July and then me and my daughter are going to go down to London on the Friday and see them at the Roundhouse and have some girly time away
|
wildflower
|
good for you Ali, sounds good, are you gonna take some more piccies?
|
hystericali
|
I plan to take lots of piccies and I'm hoping they also do a signing session at the Leeds Festival. They are the kind of band that will . I just hope if they do, their signing stint doesn't clash with Avenged Sevenfold's set on the main stage. That will be a dilemma I don't want to deal with
I break my previous 'most times seen in the shortest amount of time record' with MSI.
It currently stands at seeing Muse 4 times in the space of 10 months, as at August 22nd 2008 it will be broken with seeing MSI 5 times in 9 months.
I need to get a hobby , oh, I do! Gigging!

its my MSI road trip this week.
The car is prepared. I'm prepared. My daughter is prepared.
We keep singing 'Never Wanted To Dance', but my daughter hums the swear words. She did get carried away when her best mate was here singing along to 'EveningWear' and the 'I got my self a f*cking life, I don't care' line
|
wildflower
|
eek haha, its easily done though, Jade still doesnt sing the swear words in songs and shes almost 18 aww, although saying that, she probably does when im not around!!
|
wildflower
|
forgot to say hope you and T have a brilliant time! let us know how it goes, are you gonna take some piccies?
|
hystericali
|
I am! I know I can get a camera into Rock City, but I've never been to the Roundhouse in London before. It says no camera phones on the rules which seems very harsh.... I may get T to smuggle the camera in, surely they can't frisk a 12 year old.....
|
wildflower
|
good plan, i dont think they will frisk her, and even if they do, there is no way that they would frisk her anywhere dodgy, otherwise its a lawsuit waiting to happen, so maybe down her bra? hehe, oh what good parents we are
|
Helen
|
LOL
The Assembly rooms at Derby frisked Siana a few years back - they were serious no cameras malarky, however a few peeps did get cameras in so go for it, am always one for taking that risk =D
Didnt realise you were off to London to see them!
|
hystericali
|
yes, its an interesting road trip, work, straight off to Nottingham, home, kip, work, straight down to London, big kip on Saturday.
I have warned T not to get upset if there is a traffic jam on the M1 and it means we miss the gig or summat. Its a bit risky, but once we're past the speed restrictions around the Ikea junction I don't think its bad. My dad travels alot up the M1 on a Friday and he says once I'm south of Juncion 24 its a pretty clear route. Just those damn average speed cameras at Junction 27 - 6

yay!
What a gig! The Blackout were one of the support bands and the blond singer came and moshed with us for a bit of the MSI set.
Jimmy was on top form, amongst other things he went through the crowd to get a drink and back on the stage while singing, he scrounged a £20 note of someone and didn't give it back. Lynz did the biggest dive of the speakers I've ever seen.
More on Saturday. I have to route plan now for tomorrow

whoo sounds like a good one Ali, hope saturday is rocking too let us know how it went

I'm here at this hour after consuming Red Bull before we left last night!
Well, the MSI road trip....
I actually preferred the Rock City gig.
Did the drive down to Stanmore Tube Station in 2 1/2 hours which is not bad going on a Friday evening but by 2 hours in my ankle (yes, that saga is still ongoing) and knees were hurting to the extent I could have quite happily hammered a nail into my knees and not noticed the difference. The weather was awful, the spray on the motorway was terrible.
Went to Wembley Park and swapped lines, got all misty eyed again at the sight of Wembley Stadium. It was quite quick to get there by tube, but it was far too busy.
The walk along Chalk Farm Road was amazing, we could have spent hours just wandering, but it was getting on for 8pm so we had to hurry.
The Roundhouse is a stunning venue inside, I think it must have been a pump house or something, and its the prettiest venue I've been to.
The support band were IAMX or something. I was a bit 'eeeeee' over them but alot of the people were really into them, and apparently they have quite a following.
Imagine a pvc / Hitler uniform / electronic kinda thing. One song seemed to last 15 minutes. They played for 45 minutes which I've never experienced before. Me and T went to the merch stall and to get a drink. Apologies if anyone likes them.
I had this really weird flash forward to the future during the gig. My daughter was having a mosh and wandering about to get a better view (we were at the side against the wall and it was lovely and quiet) and holding a pint glass of cola. She looked so cool and at home at the gig I just had a taste of what she'd be like in 5 years time, but with lager in the glass
MSI were as good as ever. I got really pissed off. At Rock City everyone left Lynz alone. Last night she got far too many glow sticks lobbed at her, and she must have got 7 or 8 full bottles of water in the face.
I WISH SOME MCR FANS WOULD GROW UP.
rant over.
We had a brilliant time at the gig, and they did pretty much the same set list and Jimmy was on top form again.
We had a lovely walk back up Chalk Farm Road, looking at the people, the bars, the barges, everything. We got a taxi back to Stanmore as I wasn't going on the tube late at night with a 12 year old.
All in all, a TOTAL success.

the Rock City gig pics are on my phone, and the Roundhouse gig pics are a bit pants as we were just to far away for me to get a decent pic on the 'night' setting as I get really bad camera shake, and my technical skills are rubbish.

still haven't done my pics yet....
anyway, I've been forced to sort my pictures out because of the new laptop situation and found lots of piccies I'm scattering round the forum
