SundayJust so you guys know, Sunday I'm gonna be trying to get some snippets of the concert. Basically it depends on where I am in the venue. If, like last year, I am on the front up against the stage then it's not possible, but if I'm anywhere else I should be able to get either a.) video, b.) sound from a video, or c.) sound from a tape recorder - then move it into mp3 format.
Wish me luck!

Wow, excellent, Wes!
Maybe we could make use of what you get, here at Cydonia, if you'd be so kind?

All right guys, it'll be a long one so yeah... here we go.
I get to the gig at 3:15; doors open at 7:00 we're about... 50th in line for a 3,500 capacity venue that's sold out for the show. We wait, play some footbag, talk , talk to the opening act, and what not - good time. So 6:40 comes rolling in, I'm wearing khaki shorts with cargo pockets and in said pockets are... my digital camera, my digital camcorder, and my tape recorder - this woman walks down the line and stops me and asks what's in my pockets and I pull it out and she says that I will either have to take the stuff back to my car or they'll confiscate it at the door. SO I take it back to the car, very sad, and come back into line. When we go through they don't check shit, I was super pissed - could've taken all three in with no problem, people had digital cameras everywhere and it was just a pile of me being pissed for about an hour.
But I got over it, it's rock and roll, right? Right! And I was on the second row anyways, hand on the gate, beautiful women surrounded me, good friends surrounding me, it was a great place to be.
Anyways, opening act comes on, some fresh indie band from New York City called the Cloud Room, and they're pretty rocking. They play like an 8 song set and I really get into them. I rock it out pretty hard to their stuff even though I've never heard them before, they were a pretty strong band.
They go off, we wait, and wait, and wait - playfully heckle the techs and roadies some people light up joints and get kicked out, the usual gig stuff.
Muse comes on! WOOOO! Chris has his full beard going on, though it's a little thin. Dominic looks like he's muscled up a bit, and his hair is longer now, to the middle of his neck just basic long-cut style. Matt comes out wearing a white t-shirt with flowers and clouds on it and some black trousers, black shoes and he has two blonde streaks in his hair - pretty weird.
Open up with Take a Bow, very powerful, followed by Hysteria - the crowd erupts. Supermassive goes over great, even though it hasn't been released as a single stateside yet (and probably won't be for a while) and I was quite impressed with how good it was live - an incredible improvement over the studio version in my opinion.
From then on I honestly don't remember - I just remember the crowd getting crazy, me zoning and out just letting the music take over my body. One thing I did notice, though, was that while most were focused on Matt I was focused on Chris for some reason - seemed to meet his eyes quite a bit and he would get into the song more and move quite a bit more.
High point was definitely Feeling Good - first time I've ever heard that live and it was just incredible, the crowd didn't respond so well; I s'pose because OoS has just recently gotten a release in the US and it's not even too popular of a track when it comes to that wonderful album.
What else, I do remember Starlight and New Born being played, also a nice piano jam, Stockholm Syndrome, TiRO, KoC closed... I don't even remember, I'm sure it'll all come to me soon enough but right now I'm so tired mentally and physically that I can't recall.
After the show one of the tech guys (Tom, maybe?) Gave me a stick and said that it was for "Rockin' so hard." and I thanked him. I now have a matching pair of Dom's sticks (One from April 10th '05 at the Tabernacle and one from August 6th '06 at the Tabernacle!) and desperately need to mount them.
But... umm, after that I went to buy a t-shirt (had some pretty cool designs, but only one left in size medium - a charcoal grey t-shirt with a green wormhole looking thing with Muse underneath) and the bassist for the opener came up to me and shook my hand and said to me, "You looked like you were having a great time out there" (referring to their set) and I told him that they had definitely made a new fan. We introduced ourselves (name was John) and talked for about five minutes or so about the tour, signing on with Muse, how it was going, and if they were continuing on with them to Japan. He was a really nice guy and the fact that he remembered me from the crowd was really cool, I didn't think that the bands ever really paid attention to the crowd that much. Anyways, he invited me to a bar with them - said that it was the big going away party with Muse and the roadies and techies. But, unfortunately since I was with a friend and I am only 18 told him I couldn't, he said too bad and told me to stay in touch that I could find his information on the band website. I told him I definitely would and... well, that was pretty much it. Made the 1 1/2 hour drive home and took a shower and got yelled at by my angry girlfriend, for good measure (Can't have too much fun in one day, y'know.).
Anyways, this was the best Muse concert I've been to (my fourth) and to attempt to describe it using words could never do it justice.

Thanks for this !! Another small venue as always in Us, I couldn't believe myself that people can see them so easily and so close !!
As soon as mine will be done, I'll put my reviews about Philly and New York.

Thanks a lot guys, I did have a great time and now I just need a nice picture or poster of Dom so I can make a nice little Dominic Howard shrine somewhere in my house with the two sticks, lol.

your review makes me all the more eager to see them, Wes. I see them for the first time in just under 3 weeks, then twice in November, and i'm already counting the days!

Glad to please, Ali - I'm sure you won't be disappointed. It was the first show for the friend I took and he described it as a spiritual experience that is unmatched by anything he's ever seen before, and Muse isn't even his favorite band (top 10 or so). I hope you enjoy it, but if you ever want a truly personal experience come to the states and go to a show - if you're on the gate Matt gets within arm's reach and reaches out and touches people. It's incredible.
