TattoosI swear we already had a thread about tattoos but I couldn't find it so I am making a new one!
I'm thinking about getting this on the inside of my left ankle, but probably without the stars:
What is the general opinion?

What would you get?
My boyfriend and I are going to get tattoos at the same time, and he's thinking of getting a picture of the Enterprise (that's the Star Trek ship for the non-geeks) behind his ear!

I dunno yet, I would quite like something musey, I dunno, I thought possibly a star with some muse lyrics underneath....

Muse tattoos = the best kind.

I presume you are getting the image all black? I think its great! Because it represents something to you, which in my opinion is the best tattoo.
I have never come up with something I really want to live with. One of my recurring ideas is an old irish megolithic symbol, but it is also used in the irish tourist board symbol, so I would maybe add some Icelandic rune symbol to the design to make it a little more unique.. I don't know, maybe I will end up never getting one haha
I also don't know where to get it placed?

I like tattoos, I want a third one!
I have a black heart at the base of my spine because I love the image I chose.
I have a black and purple gothic butterfly (see my facebook) at the top of my back - it symbolises the transformation in my life over the past year or so, going from a shitty to job to the best job in the world, and how everything else has just slotted into place because I'm a lot happier.
I want something to represent my kids, they both have the same initials, but I'm yet to find the perfect design for them. It's a high standard to reach.
The Musey one is excellent, Ham.
If you get it, use Bepanthen nappy cream on it afterwards when it's healing.
I agree on getting the right design, because once it's on, that's it!

Ooh thanks for the tip. I have decided that I am going to get it done next week! Eeeeeek. I had a look at your butterfly one on fb Ali, it's really lovely.
Also RE: Karen, yes it will be all black. I think it'll be quite nice that way even when it starts to fade. The megalithic symbol you mean - is it the one that is like three spirals? If so that would be a great tattoo, but I see what you mean about personalising it somehow.
I am sooo nervous!

well I can't see the pic you posted Hannah for some reason (stupid computer), maybe it'll work tomorrow though, who knows.
I agree with Ali, a tattoo is something you need to think of (obviously). Yeah, when it's done, it's done!
I have two, personally, both related to Chad.
When he was alive, we'd already decided to get matching tattoos - one of us would get "Superheroes" and the other "united". Well if you don't know about our story/the book it doesn't mean anything, but it means a lot to me.
A couple of months after his death, my friends surprised me with a "global gift" from everyone - ie a tattoo of my choice. I had a salamander done on my lower back, it was something I'd discussed with Chad too.. that was one year after his death.
Last september (two years anniversary) I got another one, arab writings on my left forearm (inside), stuff that means "goodbye is not forever", which is the last thing he said to me.
It's funny (in a way) because I had it done in September and it was covered up most of the time until a couple of months ago, when the weather got nicer, and lots of people have been asking me about it. To my close friends I explain, to others, I just say it's a personal thing. But that's one thing you have to think about - people will ask you about your tat...
This year I may get a tat on my left foot. Not sure yet...

It was SO PAINFUL! But yeah, it came out really well
Sorry about the enormousness of the picture, photobucket is playing up.

looks really good Hannah, are you pleased with it?

Very very. I'm terrified about doing something wrong with the aftercare though. I tell you what is annoying about having a fresh tattoo in the lovely summer months: you can't get it in direct sunlight and you can't immerse it in water! No sunbathing and no swimming!

Ooooh Hannah, that looks lovely!

Oh yes I like it a lot

Very nice! You tried the Bepanthen? Works a treat. It's a pain with the no sun or bathing til it's healed. I still use sunblock on mine.
Tattoos are addictive, before you know it, number 2 will be being planned!
