what a great topic ali. well, because they toured together [last year i think] most fans love both bands, but here in america, they usually go for mcr because:

1)we have emo people [TONS!no offense anybody lol] and mcr is way more famous here...muse usually hits the UK....[but muse is my band 4 life!!!]

2}[gerard way is 30 right?] well, also here in Los Angeles, there is a mini competition between dmy dom and gerard...who is the cuter 30 year old? my best friend loves mcr and gerard the some way i love dom and muse...i'll ask here...and see if she'll get an account...

Anyways!!!

another reason, is mcr's image to theri loyal fans can easliy relate to thier fans[did i just say the same thing twice?hmmm]...more people are looking for that punky/emo/eyeliner wearing screaming band...compared to some[AWESOME,CUTE,AND AWESOME!] trio who base their music on space, the end of the world, and the or"world events, the end of the world, hyperspace, technology, religion, among other subjects"[from musewiki]so..lyrics and sound have a lot to do with it..you know?muse amzaingly[liek the beatles] ae able to recreate their music with a new sense of syle and personality/sound with every album, unlike mcr who jsut produce the same emo image sound as usual....i love this topic!!!

for example, if you go on youtube, you'll find loving and funny compassionate addiction videos of muse...of mcr, well, the whole emo stuff kinda shows off the whole "we're not loved so we're gonna make music on our damn feelings and we are hated so love us or hate us fools..."-comment by friend....ANYWAYS AGAIN! so....before my account was hacked, i had more muse loving fans then mcr loving fans....there are som many musers like us on youtube[youtube is just an example]...

but i still love our trio of boys!!!shoutout to dommeh!

MCR isn't emo. That's the worst misunderstanding people seem to have about the band. Even 'though I'm not a fan of them I don't have anything against their music. If they're song is played on the radio or on the TV I never change the channel. They're not bad. And those guys have high respect towards Muse and have said pretty touching stuff about the band, that also puts them to my good list. Just because they happen to have few emo fans doesn't mean the band itself is emo.
