The following poem is about my sister who has just died. I wanted it simple because Youth is simple & naive and we had a very happy one and not too sad.

Whispering flight

The hair tangled up by summers hay
Our little arms filled with flowers
The lips reddened by the juice of cherries
I still hear our laughter.

Somersaults until the bottom of fields
Woodland slopes ridden with no handlebar
Hordes of angry bees chasing us
I still hear our cries.

Treasures and hideouts in Grandad’s attic
Tender cuddles to our dolls dressed by mum
Evenings of endless fairy tales under sheets
I still hear our whispers.

Light and beautiful as a butterfly
You’re protected in this soft cocoon from pain
You fly above us, serene and peaceful,
I hear the flapping of your wings.

Sylvie, that is soo beautiful..brought tears to my eyes and made me want to see my little sister to share memories like those with her

It's good to think of the good times, when times are hard

Thank you Karen, I know how sensitive you are and i do appreciate your words. I can't tell you how much I cried to write this but now, I don't cry anymore, I have a smile reading it. :-)

Black Lace

So many roads flashed by in our life
Getting over from hazardous passages
To darkest dead ends we struck off our map.
We leave some ones, wish to spin them out endlessly
Our eyes cannot help struggling from renouncing them.

The route quietly invites itself,
Is improvised to the ultimate bend.
In the path, angelic and smiling encounters
Dark and touchy faces fleeing our approaching
Lost beings to hug at the end of our own journey.

This lane is either velvety or spangled with paving stones
Winding and unforeseeable, it evades monotony.
Sometimes bathed in sun or moonlight,
It marries the moods and we’re shelling this memory
Like a powder of stars along this loyal black lace.

A parchment engraved by the passing years
With no return but wealth of unexpected breakaways,
Of havens of peace to settle and intensely savour
These million images printed on the screen of irises.
We then remain our own guide but fate unwinds the reel.

The Arrow of Truth

See the true from the false, read between the words
Sound out limpidity from the crystal of a glance,
A furrow of the brow or the crescent of a smile.

Draw a well of lucidity from your own tears
Brave your fear and watch for your destiny
Shortly hurled from the messenger’ bow.

At the end of the arrow, bliss fire or poison
You may feel your numbed heart beating on
Or experience sorrow flowing out your body.

Insane quandary! Has Truth to be unveiled?
The dissembler locks oneself into a jail of silence
The other one carrying on a throbbing waiting.

Deluding yourself or getting hit by the coup de grâce?
Your life depends on what they want you to believe,
What you do want to hear but Truth always scores.

your poems are just beautiful Sylvie, just like you, you're a beautiful soul.

I posted this one on Uno, thought I'd post it here as well. Just wrote it tonight.

That struggle

Life is a daily struggle
however you may think of it, it is
you struggle through your teens,
you struggle through adulthood,
you struggle through parenthood,
you do your best in every situation
sometimes you manage
sometimes you don't
but do you ever feel utterly satisfied?

there's always something you could have done
better
differently
or not done entirely

whoever you are, you struggle
with your looks, or with your personality
with your sense of humour
with your luck or lack of

you struggle to find love
and then you struggle to find the words to say "bye"
you struggle to raise kids
and then you struggle to let them go on their own
you struggle to accomplish yourself
and then you're too scared to do it entirely

I'm telling you, this life is a continuous struggle
we're all warriors, champions...
strugglers. That's what makes us humans I guess.
Fight on!

When the clouds clear up in my head
I see your beautiful face and hear your voice
I find comfort in your words
In your wisdom and your love

When the storm hits
I curl up in bed and wait for it to go away
Shedding rivers of tears in the process
Asking myself why, why, why

When the pain is too much
I want to go to sleep and never wake up again
I want to see you in my dreams
And forget about all the rest

Waking is always the toughest part
Keeping myself busy to numb the pain
Try to get through another day unscathed
To get closer to that light at the end of the tunnel

I still can’t see it
Some days I don’t even feel like looking
Some days I try really hard
But all that I see is darkness around me

My heart is a black aching space inside me
Slowly growing inside me

I constantly recall that terrible Friday morning
When they scattered your ashes into the sea
I see myself pathetically trying to breathe
In the incongruousness of my living room
Miles away from you
While attempting to reach out to you
To hold your hand
To tell you “I love you so much” one last time

I would give anything to be able to talk to you for a few minutes. One last time.

Danny boy is growing his hair
I'm praying that it'll be long enough when I see them in Paris in August lol
A little poem I wrote... dedicated to you know who...

With a love like ours
There's nothing we can't do
With a love like ours
Everything seems so easy
Everything is so beautiful
With a love like ours
I feel invincible
Life itself is jealous of our love
She's keeping us apart
But not forever though
With a love like ours
The hurdles disappear
Life and death are temporary states
Love goes on
The whole world smiles upon us
The gods look at us with envy
How could they not?
If I have you, I have everything I need or want
The world will be our playground
The moon will be our playmate
The stars will shine on us

Love has spoken.
See you in the next life.
