This is a documentary that Stephen wanted to watch one night, he told me the day before that it was about people who jumped off the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. That was all he said and we started to watch it.
It was then I realized it was actual footage of people jumping to their death
"People suffer largely unnoticed while the rest of the world goes about its business. This is a documentary exploration of the mythic beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge, the most popular suicide destination in the world, and those drawn by its call. Steel and his crew filmed the bridge during daylight hours from two separate locations for all of 2004, recording most of the two dozen deaths in that year (and preventing several others). They also taped interviews with friends, families and witnesses, who recount in sorrowful detail stories of struggles with depression, substance abuse and mental illness. Raises questions about suicide, mental illness and civic responsibility as well as the filmmaker's relationship to his fraught and complicated material."
It is extremely sad and upsetting especially the final scenes.
So, if you watch this film, I am warning it does contain footage of people commiting suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. This being said, I think people need to see it, as it brings the subject of suicide and mental illness to the forefront.
I don't know about the UK, but it is actually being shown at a film festival here at the moment.
here is a link to imdb, if you want to find out more.

that sounds really interesting Karen, and something that i really havent got a clue about, i think id like to see this, if only to understand what draws people to take their own lives in this very scary way! _________________

Sadly though, you don't really get the answer to that, except in one case maybe. It mainly shows what sadness they leave behind, the questions the family and friends are left with and the guilt that they couldn't help them. _________________

I think thats the point they make, you may think people are ok on the outside, but no one really knows what they are going through inside.
You will have to watch it and then we can discuss it as some of the images are very powerful. _________________
